Magic In The Universe

It is very much in vogue to point out to everyone and their brother that the physical laws of the universe suggest that it is, barring some marginal quirkiness in the quantum realm, deterministic. Last year there was even a book published regarding how humans are deterministic, and thus lack free will. A contentious but popular conjecture of modern neurology and philosophy.

I'm a little dubious that we have it so figured out.

But at the end of the day it doesn't much matter if everything is determined or not since if it is, then there's nothing we can do about it, and if it's not then everything we do is doing something about it whether we like it or not.

So what I like to do is point out that if the universe without Fours is determined, then astrology is real. And I guess its foil is the fact that those pesky Fours have free will. Put another way, the universe unfolds naturally, and the things that Fours do are thus unnatural. Or supernatural. Sound familiar? Webster's definition of magic is that which exerts supernatural control over natural forces.

Which means that the things that Fours do are magical, and Fours are magical beings.

Let's dive on in to The Magic Of Fours.
